OVERVIEW

A portal is a doorway, a threshold or a gate. Deriving from the Latin
"porta," medieval "portale" and French "porte," it indicates an entrance.
How it is applied in spirituality depends upon the practitioner and her chosen path.
INTERNAL
An individual may choose to "go within" through silence, meditation,
stillness, prayer or mantras. When she does, she enters an inner world
through the portal of the mind. According to many spiritual teachers,
-- such as Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle, Gregg Braden and Gary Renard,
and many who have
gone before them -- by calming the ego-mind or quieting it and
listening to a deeper voice
recognized as her soul or higher self, she will attune her
thinking toward a connection with whatever term she uses for
the Divine.
Paramahansa Yogananda said, "When you meditate,
you will find doors opening to Him (God) everywhere."

Following in the footsteps of saints and masters leads to
depths otherwise undiscovered.
A seeker may choose to take a pilgrimage, which is a form
of portal to the world outside herself. The teachers who lived in
eons past offer many routes for seekers, through which
they may pass, toward identifying with life or truth in a new and
purposeful manner.
Traveling to Lourdes or on the
path of Christ or the Buddha (considered Ascended Masters or
those who have transcended ego and the limitations of the physical
form), the walk itself serves as an entrance way.
When intention is clearly set by a seeker, and aligned with the
teachings of Ascended Masters,
guides, historic figures or scriptural passages, the pilgrim moves
beyond her own form, gaining answers, meaning and fulfillment.
Spirit quests taken by Native Americans and other tribal or pagan
folk are an example of the
merging of the inner and outer experience, and can include a form of
pilgrimage to sacred grounds, while communicating with elders or ancestors.
In the Christian Bible, John 10:9, Jesus says, "I am the door.
If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out
and find pasture." Some people question what "in and out" means.
In through the doorway that is the Love of Jesus, and taking it out
into the world? Perhaps. Countless people who do not consider themselves
Christians appreciate the teachings of Christ, and aim to replicate
his loving kindness and ability to forgive. By doing so, they pass
between the realms of ego and spirit. The elements of any religion
that are dogma-free, leaving the aspirant to self-realize truth,
merge in a commonality beyond the confines of any church.
Spiritual seekers around the globe have claimed portals via
numerology, astrology, and other esoteric means.
According to Uri Geller and other International
Lightworkers, seeing the numbers 11:11 digitally or otherwise is
indicative of a major portal into higher realms of awakening.
Awakening to what remains a question only the individual may answer.
Exposing one's soul and mind to anything less than Divine Wisdom, Universal
Light or God's Perfect Love limits a seeker's experience. Teachers
like Renard and Tolle remind us that total presence in the "now"
will help us to awaken to what truly matters.

When someone steps between two of the great rocks at Stonehenge or passes
through the doors of a temple or church, she enters the literal
portal that serves as a gate into a sacred space. From buildings to nature,
sacred space offers a peaceful environment, a sanctuary from busy lives or
the seeming insanities of worldly life.
Many such
structures, ancient and new, provide spiritual seekers a symbolic
entry into a connectedness with like-minded beings or with
community, as well as with their own hearts and minds.
All physical space holds a scientifically measurable
vibration; that found in sacred space resonates at a higher
frequency, so those who enter therein benefit tremendously.
Among the leaders teaching new science and things like quantum fractal field
theory are Nassim Haramein, Daniel Winter and Elizabeth A. Rauscher.
Many of the discoveries these people have made help bridge science and
spirituality.

BETWEEN WORLDS
Many faiths or belief systems include one or more worlds in their
awareness. For those who aim toward enlightenment and
self-realization in the highest form, the aim is to transcend
the world experienced on Earth's physical plane so as to reconnect
with the Soul or divine, unchanging aspect of one's true Self.
When people interact, they cross through a portal of sorts, exchanging thoughts,
ideas, energy and molecules. Using caution and high intention with thought, word, and action
allows what is exchanged to serve the individuals present.
Some spiritual teachers indicate
there are many layers to this world, seen and unseen, and that
each group --of humans, animals, birds, sea creatures, macro, micro,
subatomic, quantum and so forth-- experiences its own world as well
as a shared one. The overlap of energies within or across worlds
can affect events wholly unrelated to what might appear obvious to
onlookers.
Access to other worlds, beyond stars or beyond
anything visible, is by portals through which any seeker must
pass to find enlightenment. David Morehouse, who once worked
for the CIA, gives readers clear methods for how to do this
in his book "Remote Viewing-The Complete User's Manual for
Coordinate Remote Viewing". Others also report about experiences with
stargates, or other dimensions, claiming that once experienced no
one can doubt the great portals that will unify all mankind.
Simply ask to be shown the portal that will bring your life to
peace, happiness, and joy. And when brought to it,
knock and it shall be opened unto you.
