Countless resources exist to assist writers in completing their own manuscripts. Rather than
have you spend countless hours sorting through the mire, I have selected some of my favorites and hope
you find them useful.
First, everyone needs a basic dictionary and thesaurus. I prefer having the actual books on my desk, but
do use the online Dictionary or Thesaurus from time to time.
Powell's Books is my preferred bookstore. Their rare book section is unmatched.
The Writer's Store carries excellent software and books for writers. While the focus
seems to be primarily on filmmakers, the variety offered extends to novelists and other writers as well. I
favor Movie Magic Screenwriter for screenplay writing and editing. But there are other programs available as well.
Done Deal Pro is a great site for screenwriters. Get news, read articles and interviews, see examples, and find agents.
Writer's Digest magazine has been around since 1920. It publishes the annual Writer's Market, which lists thousands of places
for writers to have their work published.
Get your hard work copyrighted! Go straight to the Library of Congress for everything you need to know about copyrighting.
Can't recall who said that funny line in a film? Go to IMDB for everything you could want to know about any film ever made. It's the Inernational Movie Data Base. Search by film title or an actor to discover everything pertinent.
Publisher's Marketplace is a site for publishing professionals to find each other. On the right-hand side of the page is the weekly list of most visited sites.
Authorlink offers writing and publishing news, marketing, e-books, an agency directory, and more.
